Welcome to the website of the Division of Nuclear Physics and Elementary Particles of the Department of Physics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The scientific staff of the Division is active in a wide range of research areas, from the subatomic properties of matter and the quantum nature of gravity to the understanding of nuclear systems, radiation and their applications to humans and their environment.

The contribution of the Division’s members is significant in both theory and experiment, with participation in international organizations and collaborations and activity in large laboratories at the heart of modern research in high energy and nuclear physics.

The Division has also taken a central role in the education of the students of the Department of Physics, providing modern and high-quality education to the graduates of tomorrow. Beyond the basic education of all students, the Division provides specialization in Nuclear Physics and Elementary Particles through the corresponding track in the Curriculum, as well as the organized postgraduate program leading to a Master’s degree.
